Biking- Clinics/ Clubs and Events

Mountain and Road Biking Clubs

I really like club/group events and the one thing I’ve noticed researching all of these biking clubs and assocations is their genuine love of the sport, whether road or mountain bike riding, and their desire to share that love with all levels of riders in a non-intimidating, informative and welcoming way. So, if you’re a newbie there’s a group for you and when you’re ready to move up they’ll help you there as well.

Endless Biking- A mountain bike skill development and tour company in North Vancouver with awesome programs for adults and kids. They do camps, clinics, rentals, training and tours for all skill levels. To take part in any of their programs you need to be a member. Annual fee is $35 and includes insurance, discounts at local stores, as well as access to social events. www.endlessbiking.com or tel: 604-985-2519.

My Group Ride- A cycling club for recreational road riders located in North Van as well as Vancouver. Not a racing club but a group of like minded individuals who love road riding and events. Memberships run from March to March every year and it costs 100 bucks to join without getting a jersey and 160 bucks to join and get a jersey. Both include club riding insurance, guided weekly rides that includes different pace groups, basic flat tire repair kit, discounts on bike tech clinics, and events. There are three sub-groups under My Group Ride: Easy Riders, Classic Riders, and Sportif Riders, so you can find your distance and speed comfort zone and hang with that group. www.mygroupride.ca.

North Shore Mountain Bike Association- These guys are a voice for the mountain biking community of the North Shore and they develop and sustain a network of trails and foster mountain bike culture and a supportive community. You can become a member for 50 bucks a year  which goes towards funding materials and tools for volunteer trail days, getting you a spot in organized rides, free or discounted admission to NSMBA events plus discounts at most North Shore and participating bike shops. They are a non profit association and always need volunteers! Check out their website for all events and trail days. www.nsmba.ca.

North Shore Ride- A North Shore mountain biking club- What do you get? Unlimited participation in group rides and members perks from their sponsors. In the regular season club rides from April to September there are Tuesday night rides for girls, Thursday night co-ed rides, weekend co-ed rides and from October to March there are Tuesday and Thursday night co-ed rides plus a weekend ride. Individuals are $50/year and couples are $80/year. You can also get a temporary one week membership if you want to try it out for 10 dollars. www.nsride.com.
