In Your Own Backyard

Back in January I got a e-mail from a North Shore resident and adventurer named Allan Beaulieu who was starting a new company called Q Energy to make a better, healthier, and all around Canadian inspired energy drink. I’m a big believer in supporting a home grown effort like this and now that they are in full production and selling the product here’s the skinny:

First off here’s how the company is inspired by the place we live describing Q Energy Drink as “better energy that is inspired by British Columbia’s Pacific Northwest. Q is the mile of vertical at Blackcomb. Q is winter storms crashing on Chesterman in Tofino and the pure water racing down the Bruce and Chatterbox Falls. Q is a new personal best on the Grouse Grind, an epic day when it is going off at Jordan River, your first lead on the Chief. Q is exhausting the dogs on the Baden Powell trail or kayaking with the orcas in Johnstone Strait. Q is a kite loop on Nitinat Lake. Q is the healthy energy to play hard and work hard every day, to keep up to British Columbia and to be at your best while you’re doing it.”

The benefits of Q go beyond delivering healthier energy in a better way. In addition to quercetin (a plant derived antioxidant), Q also features a blend of ginseng, rhodiola, gingko biloba, green tea and vitamins. I’ve been working my way through my packets on long work days, so it’s not just for long endurance sports events or for the elite athlete.

Listen the energy drink market is crazy competitive and I applaud their determination and passion to make a useful product that’s not full of sugar and caffeine. They are getting their name out on the racing and competition scene, like becoming a sponsor at this weekend’s Spartan Race. Grassroots stuff.

Q Energy Drink now has an on-line presence at http://www.qenergydrink.com/

Ultimately of course you have to be responsible for anything you put in your body so check out their website to learn more for yourself, read about the science, order a free sample of either their lemon-lime flavour or wildberry flavour or order 10 packs for $14.95.

Lets support those in our own backyard!
